Kerry Hoffman (Firmwalt), MS, LMFT

Clinical Director

Kerry is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, received her B.S. from California Lutheran University and later earned her M.A. in Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University and M.S. in Counseling Psychology from California Lutheran University. Kerry is passionate about serving the community, which inspired her to create partnerships and develop STAGES Recovery Group to continue her efforts of supporting those in need. Kerry contributes over 30 years of service within the community and specializes in the treatment of people with developmental disabilities and dual diagnosis.

Deirdre Jones Smith, MS

Program Director

Deirdre is a graduate of California Lutheran University where she received a Master of Science in Clinical Psychology, California State University Channel Islands, where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology, and Santa Barbara City College where she received Associate of Arts degrees in Liberal Arts, Social and Behavioral Sciences, and History. Deirdre has 8 years of managerial experience and specializes in working with clients with substance use disorder (SUD), criminogenic risks and needs, and trauma. Her prior experience includes managing the Santa Barbara Day Reporting Center, a community reentry program assisting returning citizens from state prison, and as the Program Manager at the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office. Deirdre recently graduated from the Initiate Justice Institute of Impacted Leaders, a leadership program for individuals impacted by mass incarceration, and is currently enrolled in Trauma Research Foundation's Certificate Program in Traumatic Stress Studies. Deirdre also holds a RADT credential from CCAP (California Consortium of Addiction Programs and Professionals).

Roy Duran, Jr.

Success Specialist

Roy has been in recovery for over 11 years and has invested countless hours into his personal growth and development.  Roy has worked as a Transformational Coach for a non-profit organization called Success Stories, a program that is an alternative to prisons that builds safer communities by delivering feminist programming to people who have caused harm, and collaborated with a team to develop the curriculum that is currently being implemented in carceral settings and youth programs. Roy is a dynamic, talented facilitator with seven years of experience coaching individuals to reach their full potential. Roy is trained in several curriculums that address substance use disorder, relapse prevention, criminogenic risks and needs, patriarchy, toxic masculinity, and trauma. Roy is also a Kingian Non-Violence Conflict Reconciliation trainer. Roy participated in transformational coach training through CROP (Creating Restorative Opportunities and Programs) and Success Stories and is a certified Transformational Coach. Roy was chosen to participate in the Initiate Justice Institute of Impacted Leaders, a leadership program for individuals impacted by mass incarceration, and is currently enrolled in Trauma Research Foundation's Certificate Program in Traumatic Stress Studies. Roy also holds a RADT credential from CCAP (California Consortium of Addiction Programs and Professionals).

Lyvonne Klingler

Associate Director

Lyvonne has over 20 years' experience leading collaborative teams and building partnerships for successful business models. Lyvonne has worked cross functionally with the professional and healing communities as both an entrepreneur and practitioner. Lyvonne is a certified personal trainer with the NCCPT, certified in Percussive Muscle Rehabilitation (PMR), a certified Reiki I Master, certified Life Coach, a certified Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (CPI) instructor, and is trained in Person-Centered practices.

Samantha Lockwood, EMBA

Director of Operations

Samantha has professionally supported individuals with disabilities for over 19 years in a variety of capacities, from direct support staff to management roles. Samantha is passionate about recovery services and supports, having lifelong experiences with loved ones struggling with active substance abuse, sobriety, and recovery. Samantha holds an Instructor Certification for Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (CPI), an Adult Residential Facility (ARF) Administrator Certification for California and is trained in Person-Centered Thinking (PCT). Samantha holds a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and an Executive MBA from California Lutheran University.
